January 19,2017/Changing Your Image

Millions of dollars are spent in the U.S.A. ( and other countries as well) in an effort to entice people to change their image.

Weight loss.

Even ‘how to’ gurus and psychologists.

Everyone has some special diet, exercise, or program that they have developed in order to service the unspoken problem-sometimes, people just aren’t happy with themselves!

So how do we become happy? What magic pill or potion can we grab that will allow us to look in the mirror and say, “Wow. YOU are okay!”

Romans 1:21-23–Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Humans were created to commune with God…but they decided THEY wanted to be LIKE Him. When Satan conned Eve, he enticed her by telling her that humanity would be better off for the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve had been instructed to avoid the fruit of that tree not necessarily because of its attributes, but to test them in their obedience to God. How could the PERFECTION that is God commune with His creation humanity if He couldn’t trust them?

Trust is not an attribute that comes easily to humans. It is, in fact, easily broken…just look at how many marriages are broken.

Humanity wanted to make INCORRUPTIBLE God like THEMSELVES, rather than basking in the glory of communing with the perfection of God.

God makes each of us as we are. He sees into our hearts and knows the ‘true’ us. No amount of make-up, self-help books, diets, exercise, or human instruction can cover our flaws…for He loves us just as we are. It is His hope that we place ourselves in faith in the blood of His son Jesus Christ who came to pay our price of the required sin offering so that we may return to commune with Him.
