The northeastern United States is going to have: a Nor’easter (which means a storm moving up the east coast that results in heavy rain/or snow and lots of wind…OR the storm could move a few miles in either direction and change the entire forecast so that certain areas don’t get the accumulation that has been forecast.
In any case, there is one sure thing….ALL GROCERY STORES IN THE FORECAST AREA WILL BE MOBBED WITH PEOPLE BUYING AS IF IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD.
I can predict that with certainty.
Why is it that people get flustered when they hear that a storm is approaching, yet they refuse to consider their relationship with God?
We see ourselves as at odds with the elements, perhaps because we see the cause and effects so clearly on the impact of the way we live. God, it seems to many, is a ‘distant’ relationship. After all, we don’t ‘see’ Him in the same way we see a storm.
John, however, witnessed first-hand the ‘perfect storm’ that was Jesus. God gave John the wisdom to understand exactly who Christ was as we see in John 1: 1-5- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
It is hard for some people to get their mind around the concept of the Trinity. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one. In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and He was with God and He WAS God. It was so from the beginning. All things were made and created by Him. Without Him there was nothing. HE created life and WAS the life that was the light of men.
Jesus is the light that shines in darkeness. Darkness didn’t comprehend the perfect storm that was Christ. Satan the darkest of darkness, the king of conceit and deception had no clue to God’s plan of uniting with man and freely sacrificing his God-self and be put to death for the sins of human-kind.
How could he?
Satan, who is fixated only on himself, would never dream of doing such a thing.
Again, how could he?
To demean himself? To suffer? To put others first? To give up his selfish glory?
That would be at odds over his personality.
Darkness cannot comprehend the glory of light. In fact, light wins over darkness.
That the God who is in charge of all creation, all storms, all our lives…who has been and IS eternal, who loves us so much that he sent His only Son Jesus to die for us is a certainty. Would that these same people understand that He beats stocking up on the physical food in case heavy snow blocks their way for a few days and concentrate on the true ‘bread of life’!
