Well, you might think that it’s the end of the world the way people carry on lately.
Story after story is related to keep us fearful.
HUGE MONSTER STORM (that fizzled, by the way!)
UNCOVERED SECRETS (that related little real information!)
REPORTS OF MAJOR POLITICAL SHENANIGANS (where one party accuses another of underhanded methods according to whichever party is in power, term after term!)
It would be easy to allow ourselves to get caught up in this fearful attitude. Instead, we are to remind ourselves of the lesson Christ gave us in Matthew 8:23-27-And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke hi, saying, Lord save us: we perish. And he sfaith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds, and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Faith when hit by the ‘storms’ of the mentality of THE END OF THE WORLD can falter at times. We, however, are sheltered in the arms of the one who not only commands the winds and waves, but created them.
All of us deal with doubt and fear daily. That is why it is easy to allow ourselves to get caught up in the constant hysteria promoted by governments and human nature.
How do we combat this?
First, by studying God’s word.
Then, by prayer.
Finally, by trust.
When you get right down to it, we all have to realize that we have little control over what happens in the world.
We simply have to remember that God does.
His design for our lives will always win out in the end…
